Who was Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a social activist who influenced and led the civil rights movement during the 50's in The United States. He was admired and followed by thousands and led peaceful protest to fight for rights and equality in the US. He delivered his speech, "I have a dream" to a massive crowd of civil rights marchers gathered at the Lincoln memorial in Washington D.C. On August 28, 1963. This inspired many more people to join the fight. On July 2, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights of 1964 which ended segregation in public places based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

APRIL 4th, 1968On a Thursday evening just after 6 p.m., Martin Luther King Jr. was in Memphis, Tennessee to support a sanitation workers’ strike and was on his way to dinner. He was standing on the balcony outside of the Lorraine Motel where he was staying at when a bullet was shot, hitting King. He was pronounced dead when he arrived at the Memphis Hospital at the age of 39. This leaves the question, Did James Earl Ray really kill Martin Luther King Jr. or was he framed?
